Beyond beer - creative watch party libations

Since you have access to a blender, watch party drinks can get a little more creative than your tailgating classics (that would be beer and whiskey).  Watch Arkansas beat up on Georgia this weekend while sipping on one of these fun drinks.

Beer-garitas.  Yep, you read that right. Margaritas made with beer.

Ingredients

1 cup frozen limeade concentrate, thawed

1 cup tequila

1/2 cup Triple Sec

Crushed ice

1/2 to 1 cup cold beer (Dos Equis, or a darker beer for a bolder flavor)

Preparation

1. Stir together first 3 ingredients until well blended. Fill 4 medium glasses with crushed ice. Pour limeade mixture evenly into glasses. Add beer to taste.

Sangria is always a hit.  This one is not only tasty, but so pretty it could serve as your centerpiece.

Yield: Makes about 12 cups
Ingredients

1/4 cup sugar

2 (750-milliliter) bottles of Merlot or other dry red wine

1/2 cup orange juice

1/2 cup peach nectar

1/4 cup orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier

2 to 3 cups club soda, chilled

1 lemon, thinly sliced

1 lime, thinly sliced

1 orange, thinly sliced

1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced

Preparation

1. Bring sugar and 1 1/4 cups water to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, and let stand 10 minutes.
2. Combine sugar mixture, red wine, and next 3 ingredients in a large container; cover and chill 4 hours. Stir in club soda and next 4 ingredients just before serving. Serve over ice, if desired.

Feeling adventurous?  Try a porter float.

Top premium vanilla ice cream with a few tablespoonfuls of a creamy porter or stout.  Add a sprinkle of fresh raspberries and a fresh mint sprig for a quick and creative dessert.
